DISTRICT # 5 OF THE WIAA
MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
November 4, 2009 – Sportspage, Kennewick
President Bill Daley, Sunnyside, opened the meeting at 10:04 AM. All present except George Juarez, Kevin McKay.
M/S/P (Burns/Pattitucci) approve minutes of October 12, 2009 meeting.
I. DISCUSSION/INFORMATION
A. Reviewed Football sites for 1st and 2nd Round. Kent will contact schools on where they would like to play.
B. Reviewed playoff schedule for volleyball, soccer. Girls swim and cross country will be at state.
C. The board passed a new policy on radio, TV and internet broadcasts. Live TV broadcasts will be $350. Live radio, internet and streaming broadcasts will be $60. Games in a tournament the same day will be $100 for 2 or more games. M/S/P (Winters/McMillan)
D. The board will review the constitution and by-laws a few pages per meeting. For the next meeting the board will review Article XI.
E. The board reviewed the conflict between Connell and Naches for the time and date to play the soccer match. The teams are still free to come to a mutual conclusion. If consensus is not reached the game will be played on Tuesday November 10th at 2:00 PM.
F. There are no amendments coming out of District 5.
II. REPORTS
A. WIAA Executive Board Report – Rich said the next meeting is Dec. 3 &4. The distance for softball pitching has been changed to 43 feet effective this year.
B. WSSAAA – Date change for Conference. Starts April 18th. Each league needs to select their AD of the year during their December meeting. District 5 will select from those the District 5 AD of the year during the January meeting. There will be 1 scholarship for an AD in District 5 available for LTC classes.
C. WSSDA – No Report. George said the next meeting is November 18 at the annual convention. You may email George at deamtn@juno.com if you have anything you would like discussed.
D. WASA – No Report.
E. Officials – No Report.
F. WSCA – Four coaches were added to the hall of fame. They are trying to get the Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame moved to the Sundome. The coaches would like to get a cancer awareness night organized.
G. Columbia Gorge 1B – Solidified district VB and first round match-ups. Reviewed the current combines that are in effect for winter sports. Reviewed basketball schedules and league assignments.
H. Mid Valley 2B – Volleyball tournament is in Wapato on November 7th. Soccer will be in Wenatchee. LaSalle may opt up for the next classification cycle.
I. SCAC – The league is out of money. They have assessed each school $150. Discussed the importance for all member schools to follow the league SOPÕs.
J. CWAC – Meeting November 17th.
K. Meeting November 10th at Sunnyside.

A. No Financial Report. We had SeptemberÕs last month.
B. No Violations.
